Recent Consulting Projects

UP Art Studio | Senior Strategist  Provide ongoing consulting, communications, and project management services for firm that specializes in civic art, placemaking, and art-based community engagement. Representative projects include:
  • District Placemaking Programs, Houston | Civic Art and placemaking for multiple TIRZ and management districts
  • Ongoing consulting for a variety of civic art programs, projects, and UP Art Studio marketing, PR and communications
  • KaBOOM! Play Everywhere Challenge ​| Detroit, "Growing a Better Tomorrow" murals and playscapes for low-income areas
  • Montrose Livable Centers Study, Houston​| Asakura Robinson project team (placemaking consultant)

Capital Metro | Research and recommendations for new program empowering people to adopt their neighborhood bus stop and enhance it with art.  Serve on MetroArt Committee, charged with development of a public art program.

Art Book Editor | Editing of major book about painting, drawing, and perception by a professor emeritus. Developed book proposal with marketing plan, which led to acceptance of book by a London publisher.  Release Fall 2022.

Capitol View Arts | Consulting, advocacy, grant writing, and marketing-communications for small nonprofit arts organization with a mission of elevating the Austin Black community through the visual and performing arts. (pro bono)
  • Six Square District Gateways Project -- Innovative murals planned for East Austin, including the Huston-Tillotson campus; grant writing resulted in successful awarding of grants by the Texas Commission on the Arts and City of Austin.

  • Biking Education Program | For Austin Transportation Department and The Big Jump Project with PeopleForBikes, developed and managed comprehensive toolkit of educational materials, website, budget, schedule, project delivery
  • Communications Program Manager, Active Transportation  | Community engagement, education and encouragement, website, equity, budget and project management to advance walking, biking, and transit use
  • Placemaking Program | Start-up, research and development, and management of programs to enhance city streets for people with Street Banners, Artboxes, Sidewalk Cafes/Street Patios, Neighborhood Block Parties, and more
  • Creative Placemaking Summit ATX 2018 |Community event with Smart Growth America (2 days of workshops and trainings)
  • Complete Streets Policy + Program | Policy writing and research, training, program development, communications, budget
  • NACTO Designing Cities 2015 | Local co-organizer of major national conference.  Lead organizer for Better Streets Week.
  • Professional Training + Education | Complete Streets workshops, cityside staff training in principles of liveable/sustainable  communities and City comprehensive plan (Imagine Austin), CNUa exam course instructor
  • Urban Design + Planning | eNewsletter, educational materials, Imagine Austin Comprehensive Plan, community engagement
